⚠️ The Nutri-Score is a tool for comparing foods to each other — not a complete medical or dietary judgment on an individual dish.

❓ What is the Nutri-Score?

The Nutri-Score is a nutrition label used in several European countries (including Belgium and France) on packaged food products. It summarizes nutritional quality in a single letter (A to E), letting you compare products at a glance.

⚖️ How is it calculated?

The formula weighs negative elements (energy, saturated fat, sugars, salt) against positive elements (protein, fiber, and the share of fruit, vegetables, legumes and nuts) — all per 100 grams. The more favorable that balance, the higher the score (closer to A).

🎨 The five levels

A

Best nutritional quality — e.g. most vegetables, fruit and legumes.

B

Good nutritional quality.

C

Average nutritional quality.

D

Modest nutritional quality — often richer in sugar, salt or saturated fat.

E

Least favorable nutritional quality — this doesn't mean it's unhealthy or forbidden, just that it's best enjoyed in moderation.
